Ruralist & Poet & Celebrant
Olivia Dudding Rodriguez is a poet, storyteller, and teaching artist who celebrates rural spaces and identities. She lives in Helper, UT, nestled in the Book Cliffs of Eastern Utah. Living in Helper has gifted her with the joy of a close-knit community, where nature and history are intertwined.
She is incredibly honored to serve as the Helper City poet laureate. Born and raised in southeastern Ohio, her work centers the stories, identities, and inheritances of rural places. She is a fellow and alumnus in residence of The Heart of IT, a writing retreat founded by poet Desiree Dallagiacomo.
Olivia has written in community with River Writers, led by Nan Seymour in Salt Lake City, UT and among the Bookcliff Poets hosted by Nancy Takacs in Price, UT. Most recently, she contributed to a panel on Encountering the Wild at the 2023 Utah Poetry Festival. She has hosted poetry-based writing workshops throughout the Mountain West. Her forthcoming chapbook, HEIRLOOM, arrives in winter 2023 from Moon in the Rye Press.
